    人物点评讲座系列- 南洋英杰、中国瘟疫斗士:大医伍连德的历史记忆和再现 Nanyang Born Plague Fighter: Recall the memory of Dr. Wu Lien Teh

    主讲人: 黄贤强博士,新加坡国立大学文学暨社会科 学院中文系副教授兼系主任
    联办单位: 新加坡亚洲研究学会,国家图书馆及新加坡 国立大学中文系东南亚华人研究群


    伍连德(1879-1960),生于马来西亚槟榔屿,获英女皇奖学金赴英深造,取得剑桥大学医学博士学位。毕业後回到南洋从事医学研究和行医,并积极参与社会改革运动。 1907年受清朝大臣袁世凯礼聘为天津陆军军医学堂副监督,其後三十年在中国服务。他曾奉命领导防治团队,成功扑灭夺走六万条人命之东北鼠疫,扬名海内外。

    黄贤强博士将从几个方面的资料和视角来讨论伍连德,包括伍连德的自传、后人对他的追忆、伍连德当代的报章资料对他的事迹的报道、2003年非典(SARS)疫情后对伍连德的再认识、新加坡制作的伍连德记录片,以及历史记忆和重构的问题。

    Dr. Wu Lien teh, born in Penang, Malaysia completed his studies at the University of Cambridge and ran his own clinic upon graduation. Appointed the Deputy Superintendent of the Northern Army Medical School by the Qing government in 1907, he successfully controlled the spread of diseases and saved countless lives.
